drinking habbits?????????
the one problem ive had with baker at this dog park is........he drinks to much water. out in california he would play on a dog beach. there was no designated water because where would the hose come from? you would just bring a little bottle and that would be it! here he drinks more h2o than all the dogs combined at the park. and the other morning i woke up to him peeing in his bed because he could not hold it in! i took him out 3 times before bed. does anyoneelse have this problem?????????? the only solution ive come up with is to take him to the park in the morning because if we go at night, i am passed out pretty soon after we get home, and its obvious he needs to go outside like 5 or 6 times! no thank you!!!!!

Dear Diary... It's me, Lola! July 29, 2008
Dear Diary,
Today, I saw my best boy-friend, Ahab, at the park today. Ahab is cool. But we’re JUST friends. Actually, I think we might be related and that would be just weird if we were to you know… ‘hook up’ or something and find out later that we are like cousins- 2 litters removed or something. CREEPY! So we’re just friends. You know.
Also, today it was Cosmo’s Birthday. I don’t know what this means exactly but I do know that we got delicious cookies from Cosmo’s human. They tasted much better than the weird crap that Sasha’s human tries to give me. I know he’s trying to be nice, but REALLY? I always take it from him and then try to spit it out without him seeing. I don’t want to hurt his feelings or anything but who is he trying to fool? Bleeeck! He’s pretty good at petting though, so that makes up for his bad taste in treats.
So all in all, it was a total party at the park today. I took several dumps and my human made the usual faces she makes- so I felt pretty good about that. And I ran in circles while the others tried to keep up. “Tried” being the key word there. Ha Ha Ha… Suckas!

PLEASE ADOPT ME!!
My name is Maureen and I am up for adoption to a very good & loving home. I get along with dogs and right now I am an only cat, so I don't know if I'd like to share space with other felines. I am 1 year old, spayed, inoculated, housebroken and an indoor kitty who was rescued from the alley. As you can see I am a lovely grey tabby with smudges of orange and peanut butter feet.
I give nice eskimo kisses and I really mean it. I play with simple toys like balled up paper, pencils, cardboard & dogs (the "simpler" the better on the canine front). I like to snug up with a person a night, but am not a bed hog. I talk and will answer most of your questions, I may even ask a few. I am all sweetness & understanding. Please call/email my person & let her know you're interested. Thank you for your time and consideration, I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours truly,
Maureen Flanagan Loughlin

Dear Diary... It's me Lola 7-25-08
Dear Diary,
Today I went up to some human on the street who I didn’t know and sat down in front of him. I smiled and wagged my tail to let him know that I thought he was nice and I gave him permission to love on me. Guess what happened… NOTHING happened! He just stared. Then made a weird face. I actually think he didn’t like me being there. So I stood up and shook my butt a little more and smiled even bigger. Still nothing. My human called to me and tugged me away from him.
It’s not like I thrust my nose in his crotch or anything. I’m not shy but I’m not that pushy either! Later my human petted me said that some people just don’t like dogs. I was like, what hell is a “dog” and what does that have to do with me, lady?
Whatever.
Later, I peed on a tree. That lifted my spirits a bit. Then in the car on the way home, my human cranked up the noises she plays from what she calls "the radio". She made noises too except they didn’t quite match the noises from radio. She calls this "singing". But she was trying so hard, it made me smile. She just kept singing, “Hold me closer tiny dancer…” I smiled and wiggled my butt to show her I thought she was cute. Humans are funny.

apparently there has been a recent issue of dogs getting sick from the water in the pool due to it not being changed regularly. now we all know sasha of all people does not want the pool to vanish. and i know there are several others who enjoy this as well. if we could all stay on top of changing out the water when we are done with the pool or if it just gets too.. well, disgusting it would help. also when dumping the pool i suggest paying attention and being respectful of kates lovely signs. we really dont want the dogs playing in a mud pit. we know not everyone at the park has the privilege of being apart of this blog so if you see it happen, dont be afraid to say something. i will certainly back you up. and of course same goes with the issue of people not picking up after their pets. now thats just ridiculous. thank you to everyone who helps to keep our park clean and a nice place for us to hang out.

Dear Diary...It's me, Lola!

Dear Diary,
Well Diary, it’s me again… Lola. Today my human took me to the park in the morning-as usual. And as usual, I tried my best to destroy the unholy creatures that live deep within the flowers and grass but no luck. My human calls them “toads.” Whatever. I know the devil when I see it and I’ll keep trying to destroy them each day. Once again, my human kept making that awful sound, “NO!” and yanking me back on the path. And then she got that pissed off look on her face, like I was doing something wrong. Geez!
When we got to the arena of humans and others like me, I promptly proceeded to smell the asses of the others. Everything seemed kosher so I stood in the middle of the arena and stared for a while. I felt like I had forgotten something but couldn’t put my paw on it. Then it started. My human kept trying to get me to chase after the orbs. Sometimes she looks so pathetic and desperate, I indulge her and go after them once or twice but today, I just couldn’t bring myself to do it. Of course, then Luna had to do one of her fancy jump up and catch the orb and return it to her human maneuvers. Fortunately, Basil was there and we quickly distracted the humans by running after each other, fake growling and stuff. We can’t have them thinking we will always play those dumb games with them. And how will they ever learn if we don’t train them?
Later my best girl-friend Phoebe came with her human. And Sophie and Hazel with their human. And although I enjoy all of the gals, where were the boys?! I mean really? Ok, Diary… I have a confession. I have a crush on Mingus. He is so dreamy. I can’t wait to see him tomorrow. My human better make this happen. I’ll even try to give her extra room on the bed tonight so she’ll be in a good mood for tomorrow.
Ok, Diary, my human is making some sort of edible concoction that I just have to try! I’ll use my best, “I’m-so-sweet-don’t-you-love-me-face?” to get some from her. Heh heh heh…. it works every time.

Are you a Web Designer? Do you support Dog Rescue?
I just got a request from across the country in Los Angeles. The Linda Blair WorldHeart Foundation for Animal Rescue is in need of a website redesign. (Yes, THE Linda Blair!) If you would be interested in volunteering your time and skills for a worthy cause, please contact me and I'll be happy to put you in touch with one of their volunteers in charge of the project.

Rescued Dog Looking for a Home and a Name
This little dog was rescued by one of our regulars when found running near the park one day. He's currently being fostered by another couple who are here almost daily. Nobody has figured out what name suits him best, but we all love when he shows up. He's well socialized with all the other dogs and people, has never shown aggression or fearfulness. He's likely a Staffordshire Terrier mix. Ron thinks that he's half-dog, half-Easter Island head. He's full-grown and probably about 2 years old, but still only about 25lbs (probably about 20lbs are his head). He's learning his commands and is a total sweetheart.
Best Damn Dog Park in Town
Since we love our dog park so much, we thought that we'd put up a blog about it. This way those of us who are regulars can post news, updates, photos, etc and keep in touch.
The dog park has been open for about 2.5 months at this point and it's been a great way to meet neighbors, play with our dogs off-leash and enjoy the space. People have been totally incredible about contributions to the park so that it now features a kiddie swimming pool, a new hose, a box of toys, a picnic table and always extra dog poop bags.
